Junior Programmers

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for JUNIOR PROGRAMMERS to work on all sorts of great projects and IPs. Working in small teams and reporting to the Lead Programmer, responsibilities include programming game systems, solving technical problems and debugging.

The ideal candidates are passionate about programming and games, whilst looking for a break into the gaming industry.

REQUIREMENTS
- BSc or equivalent degree in a relevant field (2:1 and above)

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Excellent programming skills in C# and / or C++ with a deep understanding of coding best practices
- Ability to use Unity or Unreal
- A strong passion for games programming
- Excellent oral and written skills

Programmers

We're looking for PROGRAMMERS to work on all sorts of great projects and IPs. Working in small teams and reporting to the Lead Programmer, responsibilities include programming game systems, solving technical problems and debugging.

The ideal candidates are passionate about programming and games, whilst looking to continue developing their skills in the games industry.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years in a games programming role or similar
- Released at least one title on mobile or console
- Familiar with source control systems (git / SVN)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to estimate work complexity and time
- A clear understanding of game development working practices and challenges
- Strong maths skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Programming for consoles including an understand of the certifcation process
- Experience with mobile SDKs
- Experience with multiplatform development
- Experience of working with Unity or Unreal
- Experience of tools development

Senior / Lead Programmers

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for LEAD / SENIOR PROGRAMMERS to work on all sorts of great projects and IPs. Working in small teams and reporting to the CTO, responsibilities include programming game systems, solving technical problems and debugging, as well as managing small teams.

The ideal candidates are passionate about programming and games, whilst looking to further their career in games and take responsibility for small programming teams.

REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of games programming
- Released numerous titles on mobile or console including at least 1 in a senior or lead role
- A positive and outgoing personality
- Great knowledge of modern game engines
- Excellent technical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring and/or managing other programmers
- Ability to estimate work complexity and time
- A clear understanding of game development working practices and challenges

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Programming for consoles including an understand of the certification process
- Experience with mobile SDKs
- Experience with multiplatform development
- Experience of working with Unity or Unreal

Producer

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for an experienced PRODUCER to as we grow SockMonkey into something amazing. Working with management and our development teams and reporting to the CEO, responsibilities include implementing optimal production methods, processes and tools to keep all products on track and to budget.

The ideal candidates are passionate about games and people, whilst looking to continue their professional development by having a significant impact on our growing North East studio.

REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of a similar production roles in a game dev environment
- Knowledge of games industry and production processes and tools
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with others in a creative environment
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and decision making skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Can-do positive attitude

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Familiar with mobile and/or console releases
- Scrum / Agile training

Artists

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for numerous Artists to join us as we grow SockMonkey into something amazing. Working with our development teams and reporting to the Lead Artist, responsibilities include creating all types of game assests; characters, environments and animations.

We have multiple art roles available so get in touch and show us your best work and tell us where you think you'd fit in.

The ideal candidates are passionate about games and people, whilst looking to continue their professional development in our North East studio.

REQUIREMENTS
- Strong portfolio (portfolio is key to the application)
- Excellent knowledge of 3DS Max or Maya
- Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator or ZBrush
- Basic knowledge of game engine pipelines
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to solve problems with creativity

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

UI / UX Designer

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for a UI/UX Artist to join us as we grow SockMonkey into something amazing. Working with our development teams and reporting to the Lead Artist and Designer, responsibilities include applying your extensive design knowledge to bring about optimal UI/UX designs to console and mobile titles. You will be responsible for developing great gaming experiences with interesting and easily usable interfaces and mechanics.

The ideal candidates are passionate about games and people, whilst looking to continue their professional development in our North East studio.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of a similar roles in a game dev environment
- Strong portfolio
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to solve problems with creativity
- Prove experience and ability to learn technical UI implementation skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of 3DS Max or Maya
- Knowledge of Unity or Unreal

Office Manager

SockMonkey are looking for people to join us to help out on some majorly exciting projects. You'll be part of our Teesside studio based in our new offices on the Middlehaven docks in Middlesbrough.

We're looking for an OFFICE MANAGER to as we grow SockMonkey into something amazing. Working with management and our development teams and reporting to the CEO, responsibilities include relationship management, hospitality, admin support and looking after the office presentation, facilities and supplies.

The role will also include help with planning and executing in house or offsite activities like happy hours, team buildings and other celebrations (occasional evening event coverage may be required).

The ideal candidates are passionate about working with people, whilst looking to continue their professional development in our North East studio.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of a similar office management or admin role
- Exceptional time management
- Ability to balance workload and task managements
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with others in a creative environment
- Willingness to develop skills and knowledge, including First Aid training and Fire Marshall duties.
