Level Designers - Unreal

SockMonkey are looking for LEVEL DESIGNERS to work on a number of exciting projects, including licensed IP, and original games. Working as part of a team, responsibilities include creating new content for titles, modifying and improving existing levels, and generating entirely new concepts from prototype to final product. The ideal candidates are passionate about design and games, work well as part of a team, and looking to join an exciting and growing studio.

REQUIREMENTS - 2+ years of game industry experience
- Worked on at least one published title
- Experience of working with Unreal
- Ability to produce levels with a good sense of layout, pacing, visual interest, and fun
- Work with programmers and artists to implement designs
- Ability to test and balance games by modifying variables and level templates
- Ability to blockout work in 3D with Unreal, Blender or other 3D packages
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be flexible and adaptable to react to feedback

Senior Game Designer

SockMonkey are looking for a SENIOR GAME DESIGNER to work on a number of exciting projects, including licensed IP, and original games. You will join in lead our design teams, including creating new content for titles, modifying and improving existing levels, and generating entirely new concepts from prototype to final product. REQUIREMENTS
- 6+ years of game industry experience
- Full lifecycle design experience with at least 2 published console titles
- Experience of working with Unreal
- Analytical mind that can proactively breakdown target experiences into world class features aligned with the project's vision
- Passion for gaming and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in kids entertainment products
- Ability to test and balance games by modifying variables and level templates
- Ability to prioritise work and identify and manage workload both for yourself and for your project teams
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Animator

SockMonkey are looking for an ANIMATOR to work on a number of exciting projects, including licensed IP, and original games. Working in small teams and reporting to the Lead Artist, responsibilities include rigging, skinning and animating models for our titles. - 3+ Years experience in games, TV or film
- Ability to create gameplay animations in line with the style and vision of the project
- Implement and iterate animation assets in-game

Junior Environment Artist

SockMonkey are looking for a JUNIOR ENVIRONMENT ARTIST to work on a number of exciting projects, including licensed IP, and original games. REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent 2D or 3D portfolio
- Experience with 3D engine

- 2:1 or above Degree in an applicable field of study

Lead Artist

SockMonkey are looking for a LEAD ARTIST to work on a number of projects, including licensed IP, and original games. Managing a team of artists, you will work on an exciting range of projects creating player characters and environments for a variety of different game types and styles. The ideal candidates are passionate about art and games, work well as part of a team, and looking to join an exciting and growing studio.

 

REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years of industry experience and 2+ years in a similar or leadership role
- A fantastic portfolio of shipped titles
- Able to lead a team consisting of both experienced and newly graduated artists
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to create and lead new and different styles for new gaming titles, as well as direct existing styles
- Ability to sculpt/model and texture both high-resolution and low polygon characters
- Ability to produce meshes that have a good structure and are suitable for animation
- Ability to work in a variety of styles
- Good understanding of anatomy
- Ability to create normal-maps using Maya/Max, Zbrush or Mudbox
- Ability to map characters with high quality textures utilizing photo manipulation techniques
- Excellent knowledge of Max/Maya, Zbrush or Mudbox
- Experience with Substance Painter
- Experience with shaders

Business Development Executive

SockMonkey are looking for a BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE. You must have at least 2 years in a similar B2B role, preferably in the games industry. The role includes working with the management team and reporting directly to the Director of Business Development to focus growing a book of clients and building SockMonkey's profile in the global games industry. Working as part of a team, responsibilities include finding new opportunities, making new connections and strengthening existing relationships, as well as bringing your energy, enthusiasm and creative drive to our amazing team. ROLE
- Researching the market, providing business intelligence and reports on the industry

IT Technician

SockMonkey are looking for an IT TECHNICIAN. The role includes working with the Management Team to focus on creating and maintaining a world class technology environment and helping to build SockMonkey's profile in the global games industry. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining and managing key IT Systems critical to the business, and developing new systems for all departments and advising and managing the hardware and software of the development team, as well as bringing your energy, enthusiasm and creative drive to our amazing team. REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years in a similar role, preferably in the games industry
- Effectively trouble shoot I.T. related problems and work with the CTO to plan resolutions and report on root cause analysis and prevention
- Log and work on IT tasks as required; such as purchase, change request, domain administration and support to all staff
- Ensure I.T. business services on which the company operates are up to date and performing at a high level
- Ensure backups are working as expected and complete test recovery checks as per the Backup policy of the company
- Work closely with the Management Team on I.T. business improvements
- Develop and update I.T. policies for the business
- Actively keep up to date on new technologies and advise on the business benefit they can provide the company
- Maintain existing and new contacts with technology providers and console platform holders

Producer

QA Tester

SockMonkey are looking for a QA TESTER to work on some exciting new full develoment projects. The ideal candidates are passionate about games and great communicators, whilst looking to continue their professional development by having a significant impact on our growing North East studio.

 

ROLE
- Work in a Agile environment to help deliver quality builds and bug reports
- Evalute testing environment and testing schedules
- Report on design flaws, technical issues and project status
- Identify and isolate errors, bugs and potential risks with pre-release software
- Report and track issues (Creating detailed descriptions of issues and accurate reproduction steps)
- Work with Production, Designers, Programmers and Artists to improve the overall gameplay experience by suggesting improvements and changes
 

REQUIREMENTS
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills backed up with a positive and proactive mindset
- Excellent teamwork ethics
- Ability to balance workload and task management
- Comfortable working with others in a creative environment
- Willingness to develop skills and knowledge of game development
- A passion for games

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- 1 years experience of a similar QA Tester role
- Previous experience dealing with clients / external QA teams
- Knowledge of bug databases (Jira, Mantis)
- General knowledge of game development practices

 

SALARY
Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on experience
